Is sitting dangerous to your health?

It is.

Below you’ll see some striking statistics about how much harm we’re doing to ourselves by sitting too much.  According to research conducted by the American Cancer Society, sitting can kill you faster (40% faster!) than if you spend more time on your feet.  People who sit more than 6 hours a day statistically live shorter lives than people who sit for less than 6 hours a day.

And it’s important to note that this study also found that it didn’t matter if you worked out hard on the weekends or went to the gym an hour each day. Sitting for more than 6 hours trumps every other health-preserving measure.

But if you feel stuck in your chair, glued to the computer by work, don’t despair. You don’t have to switch to a career as a waitress or carpenter to fix things.

Here’s an easy solution I’d like to share with you.  I have posted in front of my desk to remind me and inspire me each day. It also offers very practical tactics for getting on your feet.

This will help you get unstuck and moving – while working!
